Richard Jefferson is a counsellor and psychotherapist working in private practice from Hammersmith Therapy in West London. He also sees clients from consulting rooms in Clerkenwell.
I use a variety of therapies, the main ones being: Humanistic, Art, and E.M.D.R. In my career I’ve applied these techniques to many problems to do with career and choices around meaning; to life crises such as infidelity or loss; to severe lifelong depression and or anxiety; and abuse and psychological trauma.
Before starting my practice here in London I worked as a counsellor in Buenos Aires, Argentina for about 3 years, and after that I was in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for about 10 years. In Cambodia I founded and ran what was the main counselling centre for families and adults in the capital Phnom Penh. A lot of this work in Argentina and Cambodia was with people from different cultures living very transient lifestyles. I’ve been in private practice back in London for about 10 years now.
